Care Home Claims
If your family member requires home or residential care, you should feel confident and reassured that they are being treated with kindness and respect, as well as receiving the best possible care.
However, care agencies are often in the news after failing some of the most vulnerable members of society. Recent cases have catalogued a litany of concerns, including falls and inadequate supervision in relation to feeding, hydration, pressure sores, toileting, bathing and medication. The very worst cases have highlighted physical and psychological abuse.

“David Gazzard supported my family and I through a very difficult time. David is not only a first rate solicitor but if my own experience was anything to go by, he has huge empathy for his clients. I would strongly recommend him.” AJ, January 2017
Recent Care Home Negligence Claims
In a recent claim, David acted for the family of an elderly gentleman who fell and fractured his hip whilst being cared for in his own home. Tragically, following his admission to hospital for surgery he died a week later. A subsequent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) expressed serious concerns regarding the care agency’s safety standards. David achieved a negotiated settlement on behalf of the family.
In another claim, David pursued the proprietors of a nursing home where, as a result of wholly inadequate supervision, an elderly lady with advanced dementia was allowed to wander off alone. Sadly, she suffered a serious fall and passed away shortly afterwards. Despite a denial of liability by the proprietors, David successfully brought a claim against them.
“I am pleased to provide a testimonial for David Gazzard. The death of my mother and the circumstances surrounding it were an incredibly difficult time for all of us in the family. David Gazzard dealt with the situation with care and compassion whilst at the same time leaving no stone unturned to get to the bottom of what actually happened. We really couldn’t have wished for a better solicitor.” TD, March 2018
