This annual fundraising scheme, which BLB took part in last September, enlists the support of local firms of solicitors who waive their usual fee and reduce the cost of their professional will writing services which they donate towards the hospital’s charity, The Forever Friends Appeal. The scheme offers the general public the opportunity to have a Will professionally drawn up at a reduced cost, with a single standard Will for £100 or standard double Wills for £150.00.
Jan Witt, the RUH’s Legacy officer said, “RUH Will Month has been very valuable to us since we first introduced it. Not only does it raise significant funds towards the work we do helping to fund projects and equipment for all areas across the hospitals, but provides a yearly reminder to the public to focus on getting their affairs in order and sorting out the things that are likely to matter most to them after they die. Taking part in the scheme not only helps to put their affairs in order providing them with peace of mind, but is also an opportunity to support their local hospital.”
BLB’s James Trescothick-Martin commented, “The Forever Friends Appeal does so much at the RUH. The appeal will benefit thousands of patients and their families not just now but in the years ahead. With projects including the planned Cancer Centre, dedicated facilities for rheumatology, therapies and pain management services, and funds for the Volunteer Dementia Project, which will support patients with dementia and their families, taking part in the Wills month was an easy choice for us to make. We were very pleased to once again support the Wills month, and are proud that both we and our colleagues from other law firms around Bath and Wiltshire have raised such a significant sum”.
